First impressions of Mexico

When I take pictures or videos, people are sensitive to what I am doing, and either stop in their tracks or walk around me to avoid interrupting my picture.

Everything is delicious...

I love riding the subway even though it's hot and sweaty...

The downtown streets feel much more modern and chic than I expected...

There are lots of interesting neighbourhoods in which to walk around and get lost and found...

And there are also many pockets with cool arty streets...

The weather was fresh but not too hot...

And the new foods I tried were some of the best I've had in all my travels!

Have you been to Mexico?
What were your first impressions?

Are your first impressions often correct about places you visit?

  1. I've never been to Mexico, but I'd definitely like to go! It's not the kind of country I'm first attracted to but you make it look so interesting and lovely!
And, yes my first impressions are almost always correct! whether it's about places or people!

  2. I was really surprised by the people stepping our of my pictures - all around the world I've had people step into my photos without a second thought. But in Mexico City, every person stopped or walked around me. Am I just lucky, or have others had this experience in Mexico City too?

  3. I LOVE Mexican food, it's so delicious. I've never been to Mexico but I definitely want to go one day. I had a teacher, also an avid traveler, who said Mexico City was his favorite city in the world.

  4. Mexico is truly my heart and soul (spoken from a gringa). I first visited when I was 16 as an exchange student where I lived in the colonial city of Queretaro (north of the F.D.). I returned again after college when I worked as a volunteer at a home for orphaned and abandoned children in Cuernavaca for four months. I also had the chance to travel to San Miguel de Allende, Cancun (multiple times-the breathtaking water does it for me) and of course the awesome capital. It's such an awesome and vibrating city-I loved my three visits there. Mexico, the country gets such a bad rap here in the U.S. with all of the drug violence but I wouldn't think twice about returning. The Mexican people are also the nicest and friendliest people I have ever met during my travels...minus SOME of the men who like their piropos a bit too much :) Glad you're enjoying it!
